During the reading of victims' names at the 9/11 memorial, a young boy offered a touching tribute to his grandfather, Andrew Ira Rosenblum, who died in the World Trade Center. The boy, who never met his grandfather, shared how he carries on the family's passion for sports, particularly the New York Knicks.
"You blessed us with the Knicks and this year we got our first championship," the boy said, referencing the team's recent NBA title. He added a humorous jab, "Knicks in five," and continued, "You also cursed us with the Jets. We're still waiting on that one." His remarks drew laughter from the assembled crowd.
Andrew Ira Rosenblum was 45 years old and worked at Cantor Fitzgerald, a financial firm located in the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The firm lost 658 employees when American Airlines Flight 11 struck the tower on September 11, 2001.
The boy's tribute was not the only mention of the championship Knicks at the memorial. The son of another victim, Glenn Davis Kirwin, also noted that he knew his father was "smiling down as the Knicks won in five."
