Boy, 6, Dies After Being Struck by Tipper Van While Riding Bike

A six-year-old boy, Harrison Glynne Jones, died after falling into the path of a Ford Transit tipper van while riding his bicycle near his home in Llanfairfechan, Wales. The incident occurred on October 1, shortly after 5 p.m., as Harrison was riding his bike a short distance from his front door.

His father, Daryl Jones, was reportedly a short distance behind him when the collision took place on Mill Road. Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene. An inquest into the tragedy was opened at Ruthin, North Wales, and has been adjourned pending further investigation. A post-mortem examination determined Harrison died from severe trauma.

North Wales Police arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of driving offenses. He has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around Pen y Bryn Road and Mill Road around the time of the incident to come forward, stating that any information, no matter how small, could be significant.

The family described Harrison as a "cheeky chappy, full of character with a personality that could light up a room," and expressed their profound heartbreak and devastation. They noted that a child should not be taken so suddenly and under such tragic circumstances.

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist with funeral and memorial costs, as well as to help Harrison's parents with essential living expenses while they grieve. As of Monday evening, the campaign had raised over £28,000.

Local community members have also paid tribute to Harrison, leaving flowers and soft toys near the scene. A statement from The Llanfair Arms pub on Facebook described the village as "heartbroken by the devastating loss of a very special little boy."
