A 13-year-old boy was bitten by a shark in Georgia on Wednesday and subsequently taken to a local hospital. The incident occurred near Ossabaw Island, approximately 20 miles south of Savannah, while the boy was on a boat with two other teenagers and his father.

According to reports, the group was fishing when they reeled in a shark estimated to be between five and six feet long. As they attempted to unhook the marine animal, it bit the boy on the upper thigh. A witness on a nearby boat described seeing a boat approach with a distressed father seeking assistance.

The witness, Terry Tatum, stated that she observed "a traumatic scene" when she went to the other boat. She provided a first aid kit and assisted the injured teen. Dispatch audio indicated a call was made at 3:51 p.m. The condition of the boy following his transport to the hospital is currently unknown.
