Boy, 13, Charged in E-Bike Sexual Offense Spree on Sydney Trails
A teenager faces multiple charges for allegedly targeting women and girls on popular walking paths.
A 13-year-old boy has been charged with a series of sexual offenses allegedly committed against women and girls along popular walking trails in Sydney's north. The arrest on Saturday followed a public appeal for information concerning sexual touching incidents in the Narrabeen area.
The boy faces charges including behaving in an offensive manner near a public place and sexually touching another person without consent. Police allege that 11 separate incidents occurred between October 1 and October 12, with victims aged between 13 and 54. An earlier incident on September 7 involved a woman allegedly being spoken to inappropriately.
Investigations were prompted by reports of males approaching women on walking trails, sexually touching them, and then riding away on e-bikes. In some instances, inappropriate sexual comments were also allegedly made. The public appeal led to further reports, including an incident on October 1 at Narrabeen Lagoon where a woman was allegedly touched by a man who fled on an e-bike. Later that same afternoon, two women walking near Bilarong Reserve reported being sexually touched by a man on an e-bike.
The teenager has been granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear in a children’s court on November 4.
