Boxing Promoter Frank Warren Eyes US Expansion with Mega-Fights
Promoter Frank Warren is preparing to bring major heavyweight boxing events to the United States, aiming to establish a significant presence in the American market.
Frank Warren, the driving force behind Queensberry Promotions, is setting his sights on the U.S. market, planning a series of high-profile heavyweight bouts for the coming year. This strategic expansion aims to replicate the success Queensberry has achieved in the UK and establish a strong foothold in America, potentially including events at iconic venues like Madison Square Garden in New York.
Warren's ambitious plans for 2027 are set to feature a packed schedule of heavyweight contests involving a roster of prominent fighters. These include Daniel Dubois, Fabio Wardley, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Moses Itauma, Filip Hrgovic, and Agit Kabayel. The promoter anticipates that the winners, and possibly the losers, of upcoming major fights will participate in these transatlantic events.
Queensberry's U.S. expansion will be bolstered by the signing of American heavyweight Jared Anderson, whom Warren believes possesses the capability to compete at the highest level. "Jared will be a key part of our US expansion," Warren stated, indicating a direct challenge to existing promotional structures in the United States.
This move positions Warren for increased competition with other promoters, including UFC boss Dana White, whose Zuffa boxing venture is involved in some of the prominent heavyweight matchups. Warren expressed a collaborative spirit, noting, "I get on fine with Dana. Like me, he relishes competition." He emphasized his focus on the athletes, stating, "Nobody pays good money to watch promoters squabbling. The fans only have eyes for the men in the ring."
Additionally, Queensberry's roster will be strengthened by the return of Joseph Parker, who will resume fighting after a suspension due to a positive drug test. Most notably, Warren has extended an open invitation to Oleksandr Usyk, the former undisputed heavyweight champion. Usyk vacated his titles to allow new contenders an opportunity but has not officially retired. Warren suggested that if Usyk seeks to continue his boxing legacy, Queensberry offers the most compelling platform. "If Oleksandr wants to make even more boxing history, then Queensberry is the only place for him to come. The door to all our heavyweights is not just open. It’s off its hinges," Warren remarked.
