Bose has introduced its latest home theater product, the Ultra speaker, designed to deliver an immersive audio experience for consumers. The speaker, priced at $300, is part of Bose's Lifestyle collection and promises to fill a room with sound.

Design and Setup

The Bose Ultra speaker features a compact, minimalist design with a mesh exterior, available in black and white, with a limited edition Sandstone color costing an additional $50. Weighing 3.7 pounds, it is not a wireless device and requires a wired connection. Setup is facilitated through the Bose app, which can be accessed by scanning a QR code included with the product. The app guides users through a Wi-Fi connection process that takes less than five minutes. Once connected, the speaker supports direct music casting from a phone, Bluetooth connectivity, and an auxiliary input for wired devices.

Audio Performance

According to initial testing, the Bose Ultra speaker delivers on its promise of room-filling sound, characterized by its warm and immersive audio profile. The speaker produces deep bass that resonates without being overpowering, and it effectively creates a sense of sound originating from all directions. Vocals and instruments are rendered with clarity, highlighting subtle details. The speaker has been tested with various music genres, including Bollywood and EDM, and reportedly performs well even at high volumes without distortion.

The immersive sound quality was noted by testers and even impressed a discerning listener in the household, who found the audio soothing. The accompanying soundbar, when paired with two speakers, aims to enhance the cinematic experience, with one demonstration causing the floor to shake during a clip from "Dune."
