Boris Johnson Advises Against Death Penalty

Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has voiced strong reservations against the death penalty, likening it to an act that is "way too prone to disaster." Johnson suggested that instead of capital punishment, offenders should be incarcerated permanently.

"Go on, admit it. You'd press the switch. You'd pull the lever, for some of them," Johnson wrote, reflecting on the public's potential desire for retribution. "There have been times when you would have been perfectly happy to perform the execution yourself."

However, he concluded that such actions are ill-advised. "Don't string 'em up - it's way too prone to disaster. Just bang 'em up... for ever!" Johnson stated, advocating for life imprisonment over capital punishment.
