Friends and family of Matt Dee, a prominent figure from the Australian television show "Bondi Rescue," have clarified the cause of his death at age 47. According to his father, John Dee, and best friend Kev Goodall, it is believed that Dee died from natural causes. Speculation had been circulating regarding the lifeguard's sudden passing earlier this month.

A memorial event, a paddle-out at Sydney's Bronte Beach, was held on Saturday to honor Dee. The gathering included friends, family, fans, and fellow surfers, who came together to share memories and pay tribute to the lifeguard and mental health advocate. John Dee stated that the memorial was organized according to his son's wishes to be a large party, fitting for his "home beach."

Dee was a recognizable face on "Bondi Rescue," appearing on the show from 2008 to 2017. He was known for his "cheeky humour, infectious personality and unmistakable Aussie charm." The show even featured a compilation of his notable moments titled "The Most Aussie Lifeguard EVER."

Beyond his television career, Dee dedicated significant time to mental health advocacy. Inspired by the struggles and subsequent deaths of his brother and sister within a year, Dee co-founded the non-profit organization FTW Revolution and worked to raise awareness for mental health issues. He also served as a Suicide Prevention Australia advocate.

Dee's family announced his death on social media, sharing, "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our Matt Dee." They added that he "touched the lives of many" and would be "deeply missed and forever remembered." Details regarding funeral arrangements were to be shared once finalized. The family also provided resources for those affected by his passing, emphasizing that support is available.
