Bomb Threat Prompts Evacuation of Carmichael Elementary School

A bomb threat prompted the evacuation of California Montessori School in Carmichael on Tuesday, leading to a response from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. The threat was received at the school, located on Kermit Lane, around 1 p.m.

Deputies and bomb-detection dogs searched the campus. All students were safely accounted for during the incident, according to authorities.

The California Montessori Project's Carmichael campus serves students from transitional kindergarten through eighth grade and has an enrollment of over 680 students. The school is part of a larger, tuition-free public charter school network with six campuses across the Sacramento region, serving more than 3,000 students.

Carmichael is an unincorporated community within Sacramento County with an approximate population of 80,000 residents.
