Bolt, a three-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer assigned to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), has been named the winner of the Transportation Security Administration’s annual Cutest Canine Contest for 2026. The announcement was made on Wednesday, with Bolt beating out 84 other canines to secure the title.

Bolt's handler, Daphne Wang, expressed her excitement for the dog, describing him as "a character and a hard-working little guy" who "absolutely loves his job and coming to work." Videos shared by the TSA showcased Bolt's energetic personality, featuring him leaping in the air and playing with a tennis ball, all set to Dolly Parton's "9 to 5."

Photos of Bolt, which quickly gained viral traction online, captured the dog in various poses, including a wide-eyed look and a seemingly toothy smile. The images elicited amusement from news anchors and captivated social media users, who expressed a desire to interact with the popular canine, despite his "do not pet" vest.

Bolt marks the third German Shorthaired Pointer to win the award in the last four years. He succeeds the 2025 winner, Steeler, a Labrador retriever from Pittsburgh International Airport. This year's other finalists included Ember, a Labrador retriever from Orlando International; Epic, another Labrador retriever from Pittsburgh; and Xaro, a German shepherd from St. Louis Lambert International Airport.

Wang noted that working with Bolt is "always an adventure" due to his unique personality, high energy, and constant excitement for his duties, both at work and at home. His win has been acknowledged by the American Kennel Club, which referred to him as an "Employee of the Year."
