Bodycam footage and a 911 call from the day of the suicide of "Storage Wars" star Darrell Sheets have been released by Lake Havasu City authorities. Sheets, 67, died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his Arizona home on April 22, 2026.
His girlfriend, whose identity has not been publicly released, made the 911 call reporting the incident. In the audio, she expressed disbelief and stated she heard a gunshot, indicating that Sheets was in his home office at the time of the incident.
First responders who arrived at the scene noted that Sheets still held the firearm used in his death. They exercised caution due to potential rigor mortis.
According to an incident report, Sheets left a suicide note that mentioned cyberbullying. The note, as reviewed by authorities, read, "I could not take anymore the Facebook bullying, f*** you [redacted]." Prosecutors declined to file charges related to the alleged bullying, citing a lack of further information following Sheets' death.
Sheets' girlfriend told investigators that he had been experiencing frustration due to a "lack of sleep" and family troubles. She also stated that he had not previously threatened suicide. Sheets had been suffering from insomnia in the months leading up to his death.
Sheets, who appeared in 163 episodes of "Storage Wars" from 2010 to 2023, was known for his business acumen. The show's website highlighted his success in storage auctions, mentioning finds such as "four Picassos and the world’s most lucrative comic book collection."
In 2019, Sheets experienced a heart attack. He later operated a shop named Havasu Show Me Your Junk in Arizona. He had previously spoken publicly about his struggles with depression, describing it in a 2018 Instagram post as a "24/7 battle" that could lead to suicide and advising kindness and understanding for those experiencing it.
