Body Language Expert Claims Ilhan Omar Displayed Deception in Donation Video

Rep. Ilhan Omar displayed numerous signs of deception in her recent video message soliciting donations from supporters, according to a body language expert. The video, posted Tuesday, marked Omar's first on-camera public address since federal agents raided her Washington D.C. home and news emerged of an investigation into her citizenship status.

Lillian Glass, a body language expert based in Florida, told The Post that Omar's smile in the video appeared "not genuine," noting that her eyes did not reflect the smile. Glass also observed that Omar's lips curved downward and her eyebrows raised, indicating she was questioning her own words and expressing surprise at her current situation.

In the video, filmed inside a car, Omar asserted that President Trump and his allies were "running scared" and stated her intention not to be intimidated or silenced. She urged her supporters to contribute $5, $10, or $20 to help counter the Trump administration's actions.

The raid on Omar's home was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) after obtaining a search warrant. The investigation reportedly centers on whether Omar was 17 years old when her father became a U.S. citizen in 2000, a status that would have allowed her to gain citizenship as a minor on his paperwork. Federal investigators are examining claims that Omar may have been 18 at the time, which could have precluded her from seamless naturalization. Omar's family emigrated from Somalia as refugees in the mid-1990s, and her father died in 2020.

Subpoenas have reportedly been issued to over a dozen of Omar's family members and other individuals connected to the case. Despite the ongoing investigation, Omar sought to project an image of defiance in her video message, accusing the Trump administration of engaging in "lawfare."

However, Glass interpreted several of Omar's non-verbal cues as indicators of underlying concern. "There are also countless signals of deception, from her raised shoulders to her shaking her head not when she should be shaking it," Glass stated. She also pointed to an upward inflection in Omar's voice when she said "me" in the phrase "trying to intimidate me," suggesting it sounded like a question and another sign of deception. Glass also noted "lip licking" as a sign of her autonomic nervous system being activated.

The Post previously reported that federal authorities may use DNA evidence in their fraud investigation concerning Omar, who has served as a congresswoman since early 2019. Omar has publicly denied any wrongdoing and has accused the Trump administration of weaponizing the justice system.
