Body language expert Lillian Glass has offered an analysis of the interactions between former President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Vice President JD Vance during a recent White House meeting. Glass noted that Vance appeared "tense" and physically distant from Trump and Netanyahu in a photograph taken during the encounter.
According to Glass, Vance's smile showed "tenseness in his lower jaw," and his fingers appeared "more curved," indicating discomfort. This contrasted with Trump's demeanor, which Glass described as relaxed, with "hands and fingers very relaxed."
Glass observed that Trump seemed "happy to see Netanyahu" and exhibited a "genuine smile." She added that Trump's leg was pointed toward Netanyahu, suggesting he felt comfortable in the prime minister's presence. The meetings, which took place behind closed doors, did not have press access.
Vance, who has expressed skepticism about U.S. interventionism and advocated for peace with Iran, attended the meeting after missing an earlier one with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Vance has previously expressed public criticism of members of Netanyahu's cabinet for their remarks regarding Iran.
The expert also commented on Trump's interactions with Ukrainian President Zelensky, who also met with Trump on the same day. Glass stated that both Trump and Zelensky appeared genuinely happy to see each other, noting physical cues such as leaning heads toward one another and their elbows touching, which she interprets as signs of mutual liking and comfort.
Glass described Zelensky as "cautious and contained" in another photo, and also noted that Secretary of State Marco Rubio appeared "guarded" in a separate image.
Trump's engagement with Ukraine has reportedly warmed in recent months, particularly in light of Ukraine's performance against Russia.
