Authorities have discovered a body during the search for a 15-year-old boy who went missing on Saturday afternoon in the River Irwell at Clifton Country Park in Swinton, Greater Manchester.

The discovery was made two days after the teenager was last seen experiencing difficulty in the water, police confirmed. A search of the river involved personnel from the North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue.

Greater Manchester Police stated that while formal identification has not yet occurred, specialist officers are providing support to the family. Detective Inspector Dave Ogden called the incident "truly heart breaking" and expressed his thoughts were with the family and loved ones of the young boy.

Ogden indicated that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, describing it as a "tragic reminder of the serious risks associated with open water."
