Body Found in Search for Missing Teen

A body has been discovered during the search for a teenager who disappeared following a night out. James Corlett, 18, was last seen on October 29 after traveling from his home in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, to Ashby-de-la-Zouch in Leicestershire. He had not communicated with family or friends since that evening.

Leicestershire Police announced on October 31 that James's body had been found in Ashby. The force has initiated an investigation into the death, which is currently being treated as unexplained. His family has been informed and is receiving support from officers.

Samantha Niblett, the Labour MP for South Derbyshire, shared a statement on Facebook expressing her sadness. "I am so very sad to read an update from James' dad that James is no longer with us," she wrote. "Thinking of James' dad and mum, their family, and friends at this sad time of unimaginable pain and loss. Please remember their hearts will be broken and if they read anything online it should be kind words and consideration, no speculation. Thank you to those who rallied together to search for James. Sending much love."

According to a statement from Leicestershire Police, the missing person inquiry began with Derbyshire Police when James failed to return home after being out in Ashby-de-La Zouch on the evening of Thursday, October 29. The investigation was transferred to Leicestershire Police when information suggested James remained in the Ashby area.

"Earlier today, the body of James was found in Ashby," the police statement read. "His family have been informed and are being supported by officers at this difficult time. The death is currently being treated as unexplained and further enquiries continue to be carried out."
