Body Found in Search for Marcus Rashford's Family Friend in Colombia
Anton Green, 43, was reported missing in August and had been living in Colombia for three years.
A body has been found in Colombia during the search for Anton Green, 43, a British national and family friend of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. Green was reported missing in August after he stopped responding to messages, having lived in the South American country for three years.
His family had not heard from him since August 5 and described the silence as deeply out of character. Green, originally from Manchester, is the brother of former Manchester United youth team defender Ro-shaun Williams. Rashford had shared an appeal for information on social media, referring to Green as a 'family friend'.
Green, who was fluent in Spanish, reportedly settled near the capital, Bogotá, after traveling extensively through Europe and South America and becoming enamored with the country's culture. His sister, Sian Tuohey, noted that Green had experienced mental health difficulties around the same time the previous year. His mother, Nylva McKie-Williams, stated that his last communication with her was in August, when he said they would speak at the weekend.
Family members believe Green may have been staying in the Fontibón and Mesitas del Colegio areas before his disappearance. His sister also mentioned he might have been planning to travel to neighboring Ecuador. Green was described as being around 5 feet 6 inches tall with short afro hair.
The Foreign Office confirmed, "We are aware of the death of a British national in Colombia and are providing support to their family."
