Bob Odenkirk, a longtime client of superagent Ari Emanuel, has narrated the audiobook version of Emanuel's upcoming memoir, "Roll the Calls." However, friends of the "Better Call Saul" star have expressed surprise and dismay that Odenkirk himself is not mentioned in the book, which features numerous other celebrities and industry figures.

An insider revealed that the decision to have Odenkirk voice the audiobook was deliberate. Emanuel sought a narrator who could capture his voice and personality, and Odenkirk, a fellow Chicagoan, was chosen for his ability to do so effectively. This choice highlights Odenkirk's long-standing relationship with Emanuel, whose career trajectory from agent to mogul is intertwined with Odenkirk's successes in "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul."

Despite his foundational role as a client and his integral part in the audiobook, Odenkirk was not included in the list of individuals acknowledged in the physical book. This omission stands in contrast to mentions of figures such as Quentin Tarantino, Denzel Washington, Martin Scorsese, Oprah Winfrey, and even Billie Eilish, who is a more recent client.

One friend of Odenkirk's described the situation as a "glaring omission," emphasizing Odenkirk's significance to Emanuel's career. However, another source close to the actor stated that Odenkirk is not feeling slighted. This source indicated that Odenkirk enjoyed the book and learning about Emanuel's journey, suggesting that perhaps Emanuel could include more about him in a future project.

Odenkirk himself shared his positive experience narrating the audiobook on Instagram, expressing affection for Emanuel as both an agent and a friend since the days of "Mr. Show." He reflected on the challenges of navigating a "crazy world" and how Emanuel's drive, while seemingly "out of his mind," was also his genius. Odenkirk even playfully suggested "Better Call Ari" as an alternative title for the memoir.

The possibility of a screen adaptation of "Roll the Calls" is being explored, with WME representing the rights. This raises the potential for Odenkirk's involvement in a different capacity should the book be translated into a film or series.

Interestingly, Jeremy Piven, who famously portrayed a character based on Emanuel in the HBO comedy "Entourage," was not tapped as the narrator. Piven's career faced challenges following allegations of sexual misconduct in 2017 and 2018, which may have influenced Emanuel's decision to select Odenkirk instead.
