Boating Accident Near Golden Gate Bridge Results in One Fatality, Two Serious Injuries
A vessel struck rocks early Thursday, prompting a multi-agency rescue response.
One person has died and two others are in the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a boat crash near the Golden Gate Bridge on Thursday morning. The San Francisco Police Department’s Marine Unit responded to a report of a vessel in distress at approximately 6:10 a.m.
Upon arrival, emergency crews found a boat that had collided with rocks beneath the bridge and was beginning to capsize. All three individuals on board were rescued and received medical attention from paramedics. They were transported to a Marin County hospital, where one of the passengers was pronounced dead.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released. The San Francisco Police Department’s Traffic Collision Investigation Unit Major Accident Investigation Team (TCIU MAIT) is investigating the cause of the collision.
