Bo Bichette has exercised his $42 million player option to remain with the New York Mets for the 2027 season, according to a report by The Athletic on Thursday night. This decision resolves one of the key questions surrounding the team's infield for the upcoming year.
Bichette, who signed a three-year contract with the Mets prior to last season, also holds an option for the 2028 campaign. He concluded his most recent season with a .260 batting average, a .312 on-base percentage, and a .390 slugging percentage. He contributed 18 home runs and 78 runs batted in, while also adapting to playing third base for the first time in his major league career. In the latter half of the season, he posted an OPS of .739.
