Simon Tilley, a blogger known for exposing alleged misconduct by former Northamptonshire Police chief constable Nick Adderley, was found dead in a hotel room on Friday, July 3. He was awaiting sentencing after being convicted of child sex offenses and stalking.

Tilley, 45, was reportedly discovered by hotel staff after failing to check out of the Hampton by Hilton in Corby, Northamptonshire. Police stated they were called to the scene and that his death is not being treated as suspicious. A report is being prepared for the coroner's office.

Tilley's blogs were instrumental in the downfall of Nick Adderley, who falsely claimed military service and made other untrue statements on his curriculum vitae. Adderley was sacked in 2024 after a disciplinary panel found he had engaged in "sustained, brazen dishonesty." He has since been charged with fraud and misconduct in public office related to these allegations.

During Tilley's trial in May, the court heard he had sent explicit messages and pornographic videos to an undercover Northamptonshire Police detective, whom Tilley believed to be a 13-year-old boy. He was found guilty of two child sex offenses and one count of stalking. The stalking charge involved a police officer and the wife of the detective investigating his sex case. Tilley had posted the wife's wedding day details online with false allegations of corruption and had also made false claims about the detective. He was bailed ahead of his sentencing, scheduled for September 18.

According to reports, Tilley had been emailing journalists with details of perceived failures in force procedures and cases involving other police officers up until the week before his death.
