New York-based startup Blip has introduced Energy + Focus Pouches, a line of nicotine-free oral pouches containing nootropics aimed at both wellness consumers and individuals seeking alternatives to nicotine products. The company is betting that this format, similar to the one popularized by nicotine pouches like Zyn, will become the next mainstream supplement trend.

Blip's pouches are formulated with ingredients such as L-theanine, paraxanthine, Alpha-GPC, NAD+, and B vitamins. Unlike nicotine pouches, these products contain no nicotine, caffeine, or sugar. The intended effect is to promote alertness, concentration, and mental clarity without the jitters or crashes associated with traditional stimulants.

Users are instructed to place a pouch between their cheek and gum for approximately 30 minutes, allowing for absorption through the oral lining. Blip CEO Katherine Prime told Inc. that this method offers more predictable dosages compared to pills or drinks because it bypasses the digestive system. She noted that the oral delivery method is well-suited for ingredients with small cell structures that can permeate the mouth lining.

Blip was founded in 2023 with the initial goal of modernizing smoking cessation products for Gen Z, an area inspired by co-founder Josephine Pearl Lee's personal struggle to quit smoking. Existing cessation products were seen as outdated and failing to resonate with younger consumers. The company has since expanded its offerings to include nicotine-free products like flavored toothpicks designed to address oral fixation cravings.

Blip's products have secured placement in over 7,000 retail locations, including major chains such as Target, Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens. The company believes the growing consumer demand for energy drinks and adaptogens positions oral wellness pouches for significant growth. Prime anticipates that more companies will adopt this format as consumer interest increases.

According to Blip, consumers might experience a mild tingling sensation upon initial use, which the company states is normal and indicates ingredient release. The expansion into nootropic pouches comes at a time when younger consumers are increasingly exploring alternatives to conventional stimulants and re-evaluating their relationship with nicotine.
