Blakeman Rallies in NYC, Criticizing Hochul and Mamdani
The Republican gubernatorial candidate made campaign stops across the city, focusing on affordability and criticizing his opponents.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman visited three New York City boroughs on Saturday, continuing his campaign push with an emphasis on affordability and sharp criticism of his opponents, Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Blakeman began his day at the Staten Island Republican Party headquarters before traveling to the Brooklyn GOP’s office in Dyker Heights. During his stop in Brooklyn, he reiterated his pledge to end New York City’s sanctuary city status and reduce taxes to ease the financial burden on residents. He also continued his rhetoric against Mamdani, labeling the mayor as "communist," "antisemite," "anti-Christian," and "anti-American."
He also commented on the recent joint campaign appearance of Hochul and Mamdani, which lasted only 15 minutes. Blakeman suggested the brief duration indicated a lack of affinity between the two.
A Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday indicates that Hochul holds a 14-point lead over Blakeman heading into the Nov. 3 general election.
Blakeman’s rallies included appearances by U.S. Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn) and Republican comptroller candidate Joseph Hernandez. Malliotakis expressed her support, urging voters to help Blakeman secure a victory and prevent what she described as a "socialist takeover" of the state.
Blakeman was also scheduled to hold a rally in Queens, outside the Flushing Public Library, later on Saturday.
