Bin Lorry Driver Arrested for Suspected Drug Driving After Causing Major Collision

A bin lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after his truck smashed into three cars and a house in Cleveleys, Lancashire.

The incident occurred last Friday when the refuse truck careered into vehicles, leaving a trail of destruction before crashing into the porch of a property. Among the damaged vehicles were a grey Mercedes and a red Seat, both rendered unusable and requiring recovery.

Emergency services responded to the scene after the bin wagon first collided with a moving car, then two parked cars, before impacting the house. Firefighters worked to extricate one man from a vehicle. The driver of the bin wagon, identified as a 44-year-old man from Blackpool, was subsequently arrested.

Lancashire Police confirmed they were called to the collision at 12:23 p.m. on October 2, 2026. A statement from the force indicated that the driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. The extent of the damage to the property is still being assessed for stability.

A grey Mercedes and red Seat were among three cars damaged in the smash, with both left so badly wrecked they had to be lifted onto recovery trucks.
