Billy Ray Cyrus Sidesteps Engagement Rumors While Shopping for a Guitar
The country singer was seen for the first time since actress Elizabeth Hurley fueled speculation with a large diamond ring.
Billy Ray Cyrus was spotted for the first time since Elizabeth Hurley ignited engagement rumors by showcasing a sizable diamond ring. Cyrus, 65, was seen in West Hollywood, California, carrying a recently purchased guitar, and when questioned about the speculation, he responded, "I got me a new guitar."
Hurley, 61, had previously shared behind-the-scenes photos from her series "The ‘Burbs," where the prominent ring was visible on her engagement finger. Sources told Page Six that the country crooner had proposed to the "Austin Powers" star, with one insider stating, "She’s filming The 'Burbs; I hardly think this ring is a prop."
Cyrus himself contributed to the buzz with an Instagram post featuring a ring emoji. The post also promoted his recent remix with DELTONA and hinted at an upcoming appearance with NASCAR. He cryptically concluded the caption with, "Kinda has a ring to it."
The couple reportedly met on the set of the 2022 film "Christmas in Paradise." Their relationship became Instagram official on Easter 2025, followed by a red-carpet appearance in Italy the next month. They have described their lifestyle as quiet, splitting time between Hurley's farm in Herefordshire, England, and Cyrus's farm in Tennessee.
Hurley has noted their similarities despite their seemingly different personas, likening them to "twins" apart from his beard, and joking that Cyrus could be mistaken for her son Damian's father. She also mentioned their shared experience of living out of suitcases and moving away from cities.
Cyrus has been married three times previously: to Cindy Smith (1986-1991), Tish Cyrus (1993-2023), and Firerose (for approximately seven months until their May 2024 split). Hurley was previously married to Arun Nayar from 2007 to 2011 and dated Hugh Grant for 13 years before their relationship ended in 2000. She has one son, Damian, with the late businessman Steve Bing.
