Billy Ray Cyrus Evades Engagement Rumors with Elizabeth Hurley
The country music star was photographed buying a guitar shortly after his girlfriend sparked speculation with a prominent diamond ring.
Billy Ray Cyrus has been seen for the first time since his girlfriend, Elizabeth Hurley, fueled engagement rumors by sporting a large diamond ring. Cyrus, 65, was observed in West Hollywood, California, carrying a newly purchased guitar.
When questioned about the engagement speculation, Cyrus deflected by stating, "I got me a new guitar." He was dressed in his characteristic Western-rock attire, including a silky red shirt with a colorful print and camouflage trousers, accessorized with aviator sunglasses and chain necklaces.
The sighting follows Hurley's, 61, social media posts from the set of her series "The ‘Burbs," where she showcased the striking jewelry. Sources have suggested that Cyrus proposed to the "Austin Powers" star, according to Page Six.
Cyrus further contributed to the rumors with an Instagram post that included a ring emoji. The post also mentioned his new remix "Party's in The Back" with the trio DELTONA and hinted at an upcoming appearance with NASCAR in Phoenix, cryptically noting, "Kinda has a ring to it."
The couple reportedly met on the set of the 2022 film "Christmas in Paradise." Hurley reached out to Cyrus in early 2025 following his divorce from Firerose, and they made their relationship Instagram official on Easter of that year. Their first public appearance together was at a red-carpet event in Italy the following month.
Hurley has been married once before to Arun Nayar from 2007 to 2010, and previously dated Hugh Grant for 13 years until 2000. She has a son, Damian, 24, with the late businessman Steve Bing. Cyrus has been married three times previously, most recently to Firerose for approximately seven months before their split in May 2024.
Despite their seemingly different public personas, Hurley has noted that she and Cyrus share many similarities, including a preference for a quiet life in the countryside, splitting their time between her farm in Herefordshire, England, and his farm in Tennessee. She described them as having "identical hair" and joked they are "like twins" apart from his beard, adding that they have both lived nomadic lives and moved away from cities.
However, Hurley also pointed out differences, noting that she is more organized than Cyrus and expressed surprise at his eating habits, describing him as "bumbly" and someone who "can't cook and doesn't eat properly."
