Billy Bush, known for his role in the 2005 "Access Hollywood" hot-mic recording with Donald Trump, has joined Fox News as a contributor. His first appearance was on Tuesday's broadcast of "Jesse Watters Primetime."
During his debut, Watters lightheartedly suggested that Bush's new role could lead to a position in Trump's cabinet. Bush played along, humorously floating the idea of leading the Department of the Interior or becoming a White House press secretary.
Bush gained notoriety when the 2005 recording surfaced during the 2016 presidential campaign. In the tape, Trump made lewd comments about women, with Bush heard laughing in the background. At the time, Bush was co-hosting NBC's "Today" program and was dismissed from his $3.5 million-a-year job in the aftermath.
Following the tape's release, Bush issued an apology, expressing embarrassment and shame, and stating he was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly. In subsequent years, he referred to the exchange as an "ugly moment," though he claimed not to recall Trump's specific infamous remark at the time of the recording.
Bush, who is related to former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, is expected to appear across various Fox News platforms in his new capacity.
