Billy Bush Recounts Confrontation with Author Amy Griffin at Star-Studded Wedding

Entertainment journalist Billy Bush recounted an alleged confrontation with author Amy Griffin at Jennifer Meyer's recent wedding in Hawaii, describing her as "unhinged" on his "Hot Mics" podcast. Bush claimed Griffin, who is involved in a legal battle over her memoir "The Tell," approached him at the event.

According to Bush, Griffin attempted to "put him in his place" and embarrass him in front of other guests, reportedly telling attendees not to speak with him. Bush suggested this was in response to his public questioning of the veracity of her memoir. "The Tell" details Griffin's alleged recovered memory of childhood sexual abuse.

The author is currently facing a lawsuit from a former classmate who claims Griffin's memoir appropriated her own experiences of sexual abuse. Griffin has denied these accusations and filed a defamation countersuit in June.

Bush recounted that actress Demi Moore attempted to mediate the situation at the wedding, urging Griffin to speak with him privately. Despite Moore's intervention, Bush stated that Griffin eventually confronted him, allegedly stumbling and causing her belongings to scatter. During the exchange, Griffin reportedly told Bush, "You don't know me," and challenged his speculation about plagiarism of her book cover's artwork.

Bush said he responded by suggesting the wedding was not the appropriate venue for such a discussion and offered to speak with her at another time. He characterized himself as remaining calm during the encounter, which he stated also involved his girlfriend, Allison Wise, whom Griffin allegedly questioned about her relationship with Bush.

Bush criticized Griffin's actions, calling it "narcissism" and questioning the "nerve" to disrupt another person's wedding. He did, however, offer praise for Griffin's husband, John Griffin, describing him as "nice, reasonable, even-tempered."

Jennifer Meyer and Geoffrey Ogunlesi were married on the island of Lanai on Oct. 10. The wedding was attended by notable figures including Leonardo DiCaprio and Courteney Cox. Meyer's ex-husband, Tobey Maguire, officiated the ceremony. Bush commented positively on Maguire's officiating, calling his remarks "funny and self-effacing."
