Billy Bush Recounts Confrontation with Author Amy Griffin at Hawaii Wedding
The podcast host detailed a tense exchange with the author of 'The Tell' at a celebrity wedding in Hawaii, stemming from Griffin's legal battles.
Billy Bush has detailed a contentious encounter with author Amy Griffin at a star-studded wedding in Hawaii, recounting the incident on his podcast, "Hot Mics with Billy Bush." The exchange occurred on October 10 during the nuptials of jewelry designer Jennifer Meyers and billionaire heir Geoffrey Ogunlesi.
Griffin had recently become involved in legal disputes surrounding her memoir, "The Tell," which addresses childhood sexual abuse. A former classmate filed a lawsuit in California, alleging Griffin appropriated details of her own trauma, claims Griffin has denied. In response, Griffin filed a federal defamation suit in Nevada.
Bush, who has been covering the legal controversy, described feeling Griffin's gaze upon his arrival in Lanai. He stated that Griffin appeared to be discouraging others from speaking with him.
"From the moment I arrived in Lanai, I could feel her glare all over me," Bush recounted. "And she was telling anyone who would listen not to talk to me."
Bush speculated that his presence might have been a reason for Griffin's attendance. He observed Griffin speaking with Demi Moore before she approached him directly. During this approach, Bush claims Griffin stumbled, spilling her purse's contents. "Then she pulls up in my face and she's shaking and she says 'you don't know me,'" Bush said.
He recalled responding that he did know who she was and suggested that the wedding was not an appropriate venue for such a discussion, offering to speak at another time. Bush maintained that he remained "calm and cool the whole time."
Later that evening, Bush alleges Griffin approached his girlfriend, questioning her association with him and accusing him of "abusing" her for his own entertainment. Bush characterized Griffin's behavior as "narcissistic," remarking on the audacity of making the event about herself.
Representatives for Griffin did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Mail.
