The Buffalo Bills have added a new receiver to their roster, claiming Quentin Skinner off waivers two days after he was released by the New York Jets. The move was announced by the Bills on Tuesday, with the team releasing receiver Deven Thompkins in a corresponding transaction.

Skinner, 24, is a 6-foot-5, 195-pound receiver who ran a 4.52 40-yard dash. He was a three-year starter at Kansas, where he recorded 1,584 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns over his career. He led the Big 12 in yards per catch in 2024 and had one reception for 10 yards in his NFL debut, which came in the season finale against the Bills. He also caught a two-point conversion in that game.

Skinner was released by the Jets for the second time this offseason on Monday. The Jets' current receiving group includes star Garrett Wilson and rookie Omar Cooper Jr.

The Bills are undergoing a significant change at the wide receiver position this offseason. They recently acquired veteran receiver DJ Moore in a trade with the Chicago Bears, who is expected to lead the depth chart. Keon Coleman, a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has yet to meet expectations. With Moore projected to start on the outside and Khalil Shakir expected to be the slot receiver, along with Joshua Palmer also in contention for an outside role, Skinner will face a challenge to make the Bills' final roster.
