Bills Fans Slam Highmark Stadium for Water Access Policies
New complaints arise regarding water cup sizes and the prohibition of personal water bottles at the $2.2 billion venue.

Some Buffalo Bills fans are voicing strong dissatisfaction with Highmark Stadium's policies on water access, citing concerns about the size of cups provided and the ban on personal water bottles. These latest criticisms follow previous complaints about obstructed sightlines and the lack of free water fountains within the $2.2 billion stadium.
While Highmark Stadium does offer water bottle refilling stations, fans have questioned their utility as personal bottles are not permitted inside. "The Buffalo Bills are the only stadium that doesn’t have access to water for every patron in the stadium," one fan told WGRZ-TV, as reported by The Sun. "And I think it’s legally questionable, I think it’s morally wrong, and I think it’s very dangerous for events like concerts."
The Bills organization acknowledged that issues with water access arise, particularly during hot weather games. "But we have not changed the policy and feel that we provide fans with some good options while preserving our opportunities to sell water and beverages," the team stated to WGRZ-TV.
A video posted by the official Highmark Stadium X account demonstrated how to use the refilling stations by filling a provided plastic cup. This post, however, drew further criticism from fans who expressed concerns about hygiene and the stadium's overall approach.
One user on X commented, "Cup from a dirty counter, touched by dirty hands…at least have a cup dispenser." Another fan wrote, "Wow. There’s more condescension & mockery of the fans in this video than all the water in the bottles you’ve blocked from entering the stadium." A third fan added, "Not sure this is going to help the way you hope it does. You are the only stadium that doesnt allow an empty water bottle into the stadium."
The Buffalo Bills are currently 3-1 on the season after a 29-26 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
