Bill O'Reilly: Iran War Could 'Kill Trump's Legacy'

Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly has cautioned that the ongoing conflict in Iran could significantly damage President Donald Trump’s legacy, drawing parallels to the impact of the Iraq War on George W. Bush’s presidency.

O’Reilly stated in an interview that the Republican Party is suffering in polls due to the Iran war, which he believes is alienating voters concerned about their finances. "Republicans will lose the midterms because most people are not thinking beyond their wallet," O’Reilly told host Chris Cuomo on NewsNation. He added that Trump, who he believes cares deeply about his legacy, risks seeing it tarnished by the protracted conflict.

Commentators are predicting negative outcomes for Republican candidates in the upcoming midterm elections. The war's economic repercussions, including increased fuel prices, are reportedly contributing to voter dissatisfaction. A study by Brown University's Climate Solutions Lab estimated that the conflict has cost U.S. consumers at least $100 billion in higher fuel prices since February 28.

O’Reilly also mentioned a conversation with Secretary of State Marco Rubio about the war, noting that it is "not going particularly well, and all the polls show that." He emphasized that the issue is not about any specific wrongdoings by Trump but rather about how the conflict will be concluded. "It’s a matter of how are you going to wrap it up, because this is killing the Republican Party in the polling, and you may lose Congress because Americans are tired of it, and their gas is up, their food is up," O'Reilly asserted.
