Comedian Bill Maher announced he will have dinner with former President Donald Trump again, a revelation made during a conversation on his "Club Random" podcast with agent Ari Emanuel. Maher stated that Trump invited him back for another private dinner, indicating a continuation of their interactions.

"I'm having dinner with him again next week," Maher told Emanuel. He described Trump as "really nice" during their previous meeting, suggesting a more amiable interaction than Maher's public persona might suggest. "Like, I promise I won't say bad things about you like I did the last time.' And I texted back, and I said, 'You know what, you're the president of the United States. Say whatever the f--- you want. I'm just glad we're talking.' It's like being called a 'hockey puck' by Don Rickles. It's just what he does. It's how he talks."

Maher contrasted his interactions with Trump to the critical reception he received from some for meeting with the former president. He pointed out the perceived hypocrisy, noting that Emanuel himself had recently spoken with Trump. "It blows my mind that there are people in this world and lots of them on the far left who just would turn this opportunity down, a private dinner in the White House with the president, just a few people, say whatever you want," Maher said. "I've heard people say, 'Well, I don't like the war.' Tell him! You can tell them, and I will."

This upcoming dinner follows a previous meeting that also took place at the White House. Maher had described Trump as "gracious and measured" during that encounter, suggesting the public perception of Trump differs from his private demeanor. He also noted that Trump displayed more self-awareness than he typically projects, particularly regarding the 2020 election.

Maher remarked that during their previous dinner, he never felt he had to "walk on eggshells" around Trump. He also stated he would feel more comfortable talking to Trump than he did with former Presidents Clinton or Obama, attributing this to the dynamic between them. Maher suggested this openness might be emblematic of why Democrats are perceived as unpopular.

While Maher and Trump have been public adversaries for years, their relationship appears to have evolved. The initial meeting was reportedly facilitated by mutual acquaintance Kid Rock. Despite Trump's past public criticisms of Maher's show ratings, the comedian is scheduled for another private dinner with the former president.
