Former President Bill Clinton expressed confidence in the Democratic Party's prospects for the upcoming November midterm elections, stating that he believes the party is in "good shape" following recent primary results in New York where three socialist candidates secured key victories.

"I think we’re in good shape for the fall," Clinton told Fox News Digital when asked about the outcome of Tuesday's elections.

The victories by candidates Darializa Avila Chevalier, Brad Lander, and Claire Valdez, who were backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, have sparked internal debate within the Democratic Party regarding the viability of progressive campaigns as a blueprint for national success.

Clinton's remarks come as the Democratic Party continues to navigate its ideological direction. While some Democrats have embraced the progressive movement, mainstream party members have voiced caution against adopting socialism as the party's national brand, advocating instead for capitalism.

Clinton has previously aligned himself with more moderate Democrats in New York. Last year, he endorsed former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo over Zohran Mamdani in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary. Mamdani went on to win the primary and secure the mayoral nomination.

When asked by Fox News Digital about the situation in Iran, Clinton declined to answer.

Clinton's refusal to comment on Iran occurs amidst ongoing tensions, as the United States and Iran are working to navigate a recently announced peace deal. Following a ceasefire agreement, U.S. forces launched strikes against Iranian targets after Tehran attacked a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump had previously stated that the U.S. was negotiating with Iran from a "position of pure strength."
