A 32-year-old biker has been charged in connection with the death of a four-year-old boy following a crash between an off-road motorcycle and a car. Brian Cameron faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and causing death by driving while uninsured and unlicensed.
Cameron is expected to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed the boy was pronounced dead at the scene on Churchill Drive in Newark on Sunday.
The child had been a passenger on the motorcycle, which was also carrying a 24-year-old man who sustained serious injuries. This man was initially arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in hospital.
Investigators believe the motorcycle was part of a convoy with another bike shortly before the collision, which occurred around 6 p.m. The rider of the second motorcycle left the scene before police arrived, leading to the arrest of a second suspect on Monday.
Floral tributes and a balloon have been placed at the crash site. Detective Inspector Jamie Moore of Nottinghamshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit stated that the boy's family is being supported by specialist officers and has been updated on the investigation. He urged the public to respect the family's privacy and refrain from online speculation about the incident.
