Rhianna Collins, a current contestant on Big Brother, has been recognized by viewers for her previous appearances on the reality television series Made In Chelsea. This comes as the show faces a significant number of complaints to Ofcom, primarily concerning her relationship with fellow housemate Omar El Mayer.
Collins, 22, was previously featured on Made In Chelsea last year as the girlfriend of Freddy Knatchbull. A scene from the E4 program, which has circulated on social media, shows Knatchbull introducing Collins to his friends. On Made In Chelsea, Collins was described as 'ruthless and carefree,' and it was noted that she had a bodyguard between the ages of 16 and 18 to manage her 'wild child' behavior.
Her relationship with Omar El Mayer has become a central focus of the current Big Brother season. However, the number of complaints lodged with Ofcom regarding El Mayer's conduct towards Collins has reached unprecedented levels. The broadcasting regulator has received 22,499 complaints, making it the most complaints for a civilian contestant in Big Brother history. This figure places it among the highest complaint counts for a single incident in the show's history, following Jade Goody's racism row and Roxanne Pallett's 'punch-gate'.
Specific incidents cited include El Mayer's alleged 'controlling and coercive behavior,' such as scolding Collins for discussing their issues with other housemates and using phrases like 'don't talk about me,' 'don't cry,' and 'fix up.'
Following a particularly contentious episode, Big Brother issued a verbal warning to El Mayer, cautioning him about his language and behavior. The producers noted that his actions appeared to dismiss the feelings of his fellow housemates and the viewing public.
El Mayer responded by stating he had done nothing malicious and was looking out for Collins. However, Big Brother reiterated the importance of being mindful of the impact of his words and actions. Despite the warnings and a temporary pause in their relationship, Collins and El Mayer have since decided to rekindle their romance within the house.
Women's Aid has described El Mayer's behavior as 'worrying,' and some viewers have expressed disappointment that the Big Brother intervention was not more severe.
