Big Brother Star Amber Siyavus Found Dead With Drugs and Paraphernalia

Amber Siyavus, a former contestant on the CBS reality series Big Brother, was found dead in a Las Vegas home on October 9, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and a mystery white powder, according to a report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Authorities discovered Siyavus, 46, unresponsive in a bedroom with a lighter and straw in her hand, police stated. Beneath her body, officers found burned aluminum foil with residue and a plastic bag containing an unidentified white powder. Luggage near Siyavus contained prescription pills and multiple containers of Narcan spray, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has been contacted for further comment.

Siyavus' aunt informed authorities that the Big Brother alum had recently returned to Las Vegas from a trip to her mother's home in Michigan on October 4. The purpose of this trip, according to the police report, was to persuade Siyavus' son to move to Las Vegas with her.

Siyavus' aunt stated she was unaware of any suicidal ideations but noted that Siyavus had previously sought treatment in rehab for issues related to heroin and other substances. The aunt found Siyavus unresponsive in bed around 11 a.m. after checking on her four hours earlier and observing her in the same position. Emergency dispatchers were alerted that Siyavus was not breathing and was cold. She was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m.

An official cause of death has not yet been released by authorities.

Siyavus appeared on the eighth season of Big Brother, where she finished in seventh place. In a 2007 interview, she explained her initial decision to join the show, citing her sister's fandom and a financial incentive of $500,000 for the grand prize. She described the experience as challenging but stated she would do it again to help her family, adding that she learned a great deal about life, people, and herself.
