Big Brother Housemate Rochelle Vows to 'Keep Enemies Closer' After Husband's Warning

Big Brother contestant Rochelle has stated she will "keep her enemies closer" following a visit from her husband, Russell, who warned her about certain housemates.

During the "House of Time" task this week, housemates had the opportunity to receive visits from friends and family. These interactions were conducted under a "frozen in time" rule, where speaking to loved ones would result in a penalty. Russell warned Rochelle to be wary of specific individuals within the house.

Reflecting on the visit, Rochelle told Big Brother in the Diary Room that her husband had "put my head straight" and advised her to "be nicer to people." She acknowledged her own natural inclination towards being difficult but expressed determination to change her approach. "I can't help it, I am naturally a b***h, aren't I, so it isn't easy. But, I'm determined to keep my friends close and my enemies closer, as the saying goes," Rochelle stated.

Other housemates also received visits and advice. Philip was warned by his friend Paul to "tone down your voice a little bit," as he can come across as "abrupt." Frankie, who has publicly come out as bisexual on the show, was visited by his mother, Louise, who told him that "a lot of weight's lifted off your shoulders." Yasmin's friend Lauren encouraged her to "keep standing on business with these people," while Sam's father, Andrew, urged him to "take that hierarchy down."

Friday night's episode is also set to feature an eviction, with Twinks, Samuel, Catrin, and Harry all up for nomination.

The current season of Big Brother has been marked by significant controversy, particularly concerning housemate Omar's behavior towards his girlfriend, Rhianna. Their relationship, which began six weeks prior after meeting in the house, has drawn criticism, with accusations of "coercive and controlling" behavior leveled against Omar.

Women's Aid has issued a statement calling Omar's behavior "worrying" and expressed concern about the platform given to such actions in popular media. The organization noted that coercive control can escalate into other forms of abuse and risks minimizing survivors' experiences while presenting abuse as entertainment. They urged television companies like ITV to work with experts to ensure contestant safety.

Big Brother has stated that all housemates receive Respect and Inclusion training and briefings on expected behavior. A spokesperson added that housemates are monitored 24 hours a day, and any instances of inappropriate behavior are addressed. The production emphasizes that welfare and safeguarding are prioritized, with a dedicated welfare team available to support housemates.

Big Brother continues on Friday night at 9 p.m. on ITV and ITVX.
