Big Brother Contestant Sparks Outrage With Comments on Fellow Housemate's Weight and Amputees

Big Brother contestant Rochelle Rackham has drawn significant criticism for remarks made about fellow housemate Millie Jarrett's weight and for previous comments perceived as ableist. During Thursday's episode, Rackham, 57, advised Jarrett, 19, on weight loss methods, including undergoing a gastric band or using weight loss injections. Rackham suggested that Jarrett needed to "put her mind to it," but then stated, "You're saying you have but I see what you eat." This exchange left Jarrett visibly upset.

Jarrett later expressed her frustration to another housemate, saying, "What a fing bh. I hope she goes on Friday." The comments about weight have added to the controversy surrounding Rackham's participation in the show.

Earlier in the week, Rackham had already caused offense with remarks directed at quadruple amputee Charlotte Notts, 18. Rackham confessed to Notts that she had "a bit of a fear" of people with no limbs and admitted to being scared when she first saw her. She later expressed shame for her reaction.

Viewers took to social media to voice their anger over Rackham's comments. Many described her remarks about Notts as "disgusting and outrageous," with some noting that it demonstrated a lack of understanding and sensitivity regarding disabilities. One viewer wrote on X, "That was disgusting what Rochelle said about Charlotte, just because she has a disability doesn’t mean she is different from anyone else!! She is really mean."

Notts shared Rackham's comments with other housemates, including Lynx Noumey, 24, who responded with disbelief. Following this, housemate Rhianna addressed Rackham directly, reportedly to resolve the situation.

The controversy highlights ongoing discussions about appropriate language and behavior, particularly concerning sensitive topics like weight and disability, within a public forum.
