Bianna Golodryga Departs CNN After Nine Years for New Opportunity
The anchor announced her departure on X, citing an 'opportunity that I couldn’t pass up' without specifying details.
CNN anchor Bianna Golodryga has announced her departure from the network after a nine-year tenure, stating she is leaving for a new opportunity she "couldn't pass up." Golodryga shared the news on the social media platform X on Thursday, expressing gratitude for her time at CNN.
"After nine wonderful years at CNN, I’ve decided to leave for an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up," Golodryga wrote. "I’m grateful for the experiences, friendships and support from fabulous colleagues during my CNN years. Exciting news to share very soon!"
Her final day at CNN is scheduled for Friday, at the conclusion of the broadcast. Golodryga co-hosted the international morning show "One World" with Zain Asher, who will remain with the network.
Golodryga's departure follows news earlier this week that veteran correspondent Christiane Amanpour is also leaving CNN after 43 years. Amanpour will depart her daily program at the end of the year but will continue hosting a weekly show until May, with her official exit from CNN set for June.
These departures come shortly after Paramount Skydance completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, which brought CNN and CBS News under common ownership.
Golodryga initially joined CNN as a part-time contributor in 2017. She briefly served as a guest co-anchor on CBS Morning News in the same year before permanently joining the outlet in September 2017. By 2019, she had transitioned to a full-time role as a senior global affairs analyst for CNN.
Prior to her work at CNN, Golodryga was a news and finance anchor for Yahoo and co-anchored weekend editions of ABC's "Good Morning America."
Born in the Soviet Moldova in June 1978, Golodryga immigrated to the U.S. with her parents as Jewish refugees in 1980. She grew up in the Houston area. Golodryga married Peter R. Orszag, CEO of the financial services firm Lazard, in 2010. They have two children. She is fluent in Russian and has covered significant international events, including Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the aftermath of the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas.
