Beyoncé and Daughters Attend Housing Complex Opening in Houston
The superstar, along with daughters Blue Ivy and Rumi, celebrated the inauguration of the Knowles-Rowland House, a housing complex redeveloped after Hurricane Harvey.
Beyoncé made a rare public appearance with her daughters, Blue Ivy, 14, and Rumi, 9, in her hometown of Houston, Texas on Tuesday. The singer, 45, was joined by her Destiny's Child bandmate Kelly Rowland, 45, and her mother Tina Knowles, 72, to celebrate the opening of the Knowles-Rowland House.
The 31-unit housing complex, redeveloped after sustaining damage from Hurricane Harvey in 2017, will provide permanent supportive housing for residents. Blue Ivy and Rumi participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility.
Beyoncé wore a beige dress for the occasion, while Blue Ivy sported a green sports jersey, light blue jeans, and heels. Her hairstyle, a long ponytail, drew comparisons to Beyoncé's look at the 2003 NBA All-Star Game. Rumi wore a navy dress and a long cardigan, with her hair also styled in a ponytail.
Beyoncé's husband, Jay-Z, and their son, Sir Carter, were not confirmed to be in attendance. The appearance marks another public event for Blue Ivy and Rumi, who have previously joined their parents on stage during Beyoncé's tour dates and Jay-Z's anniversary concert series at Yankee Stadium.
Blue Ivy has garnered significant recognition for her talents, including a Grammy Award, an MTV VMA Moon Man, and two Guinness World Records. She also made her Met Gala debut earlier this year alongside her parents.
Beyoncé has previously spoken about prioritizing her children's normalcy and privacy despite their global fame, managing her schedule to ensure they accompany her on tour and to her studio.
