Beverly Wilshire Hotel Sues Travel Firm Over $636K World Cup Booking Dispute

The iconic Beverly Wilshire hotel has filed a lawsuit against luxury sports travel company Jet Set Sports, seeking $636,000 after the firm allegedly canceled a substantial room booking just five months before the World Cup commenced in Los Angeles. The suit alleges that Jet Set Sports booked 300 rooms for six nights during the tournament.

According to the lawsuit filed by the Four Seasons-owned hotel, located at Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive, the agreement was made in August 2025, with Jet Set Sports agreeing to pay $594,000 before taxes and fees for the rooms. This rate averaged approximately $330 per room per night. The hotel states that Jet Set Sports paid an initial $50,000 deposit but failed to make a subsequent $50,000 payment due on December 31, 2025.

On January 23, approximately five months before the World Cup's start, Jet Set Sports informed the Beverly Wilshire that it needed to withdraw from the agreement and release the rooms. The hotel contends that it was unable to rebook any of the canceled rooms before the tournament concluded, resulting in a loss of revenue.

The total amount sought by the hotel includes the original $594,000 room cost and $92,000 in taxes, less the $50,000 deposit already paid by Jet Set Sports. The lawsuit asserts that the contract stipulated Jet Set Sports would be responsible for the cost of any rooms the hotel could not resell.

The Beverly Wilshire, established in 1928, is a landmark luxury hotel renowned for its role in the 1990 film “Pretty Woman.” It has hosted numerous high-profile guests, including members of the British royal family, former U.S. presidents, and Hollywood celebrities.

Jet Set Sports, a New Jersey-based company founded in 1984, specializes in providing hospitality experiences for major sporting events. The company's website highlights its commitment to delivering high-quality sports hospitality. Jet Set Sports is also reportedly gauging interest for hospitality packages for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Efforts to reach Jet Set Sports for comment were unsuccessful.
