Actress Beverley Callard has announced she has completed her radiotherapy treatment as she continues her battle with breast cancer. The 69-year-old star shared the news on Thursday, marking the end of her final session.

Callard, known for her role in Coronation Street, was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and has kept her followers updated on her journey. "I've done it. I've just finished my last radiotherapy session," she stated in an Instagram post. "Fingers crossed. Yep, that was number 10 for me and lots of people have to have lots more I know that, but for now that's finished. So hopefully, I don't know for sure, but hopefully I won't need any more."

Her husband, Jon McEwan, offered words of encouragement, to which Callard responded, "Positive thinking, darling. Yes definitely."

She described feeling a sense of numbness following the completion of her treatment. Callard is scheduled to see a professor in two months for further assessments, including mammograms and consultations with oncologists.

Callard had previously outlined her radiotherapy plan, which involved "10 days of radiotherapy, five consecutive days, then a weekend off, then five more days." She noted that she was awaiting an appointment for a body scan and mapping, the initial step before treatment began. At that time, she confirmed her ability to continue working while awaiting these arrangements.

Medical professionals had expressed concern that Callard's radiotherapy should have commenced earlier following her diagnosis. She admitted this news was "not what she wanted to hear" after discussing her treatment plan with doctors.

Having moved to Ireland from England, Callard faced delays in transferring her medical records between the countries. Last month, she marked a significant milestone by returning to work on the Irish soap opera Fair City. She had taken a four-month break for surgery.

Callard joined the cast of Fair City in February as Lily. Shortly before beginning filming, she received her breast cancer diagnosis and returned to the UK for surgery and treatment. Upon her return to set, she described feeling "nervous and on edge" but was ultimately pleased with her first day back, stating, "As soon as I was in there, you just feel like you've never been away. It was really good. Everybody was so pleased to see me and I was really pleased to see them."
