Beverley Callard Awaits Biopsy Results Amid Breast Cancer Battle
The Coronation Street star experiences worsening nausea and pain, highlighting the challenges of ongoing medical tests.
Beverley Callard, 69, is experiencing an agonizing wait for the results of a stomach biopsy as she continues to battle breast cancer. The actress shared on Wednesday that the ongoing delay is impacting her well-being, with her symptoms of nausea and stomach pain becoming more severe.
"An update with no update sadly… oncology results are taking an age meanwhile the nausea seems to be getting worse," Callard captioned a video update. She explained that the nausea had been so debilitating that she was unable to work that day, forcing her to see her general practitioner.
Callard, who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, has been vocal about her recovery and treatment. She recently expressed frustration after her prescribed medication for stomach erosion was denied due to potential interactions with other medications she is taking. This led to a difficult process of trying to get clearance from her oncologist, leaving her feeling in "limbo."
Her GP noted surprise at the prolonged wait for the biopsy results, which have now extended to five weeks. Callard mentioned that while nausea and stomach pain are reportedly common after radiotherapy, her current experience seems unusually prolonged.
"It's just the nausea, stomach ache and then it'll go away and then it comes back again," Callard described. She is now trying new medication to alleviate her stomach pain.
During her update, Callard also expressed guilt about worrying her 94-year-old mother-in-law, Crystal, who had become distressed by her health concerns. Despite the challenges, Callard ended her video with a message of resilience, promising fans, "we will bounce back."
Friends and fans have offered support, with actress Denise Welch expressing disbelief at the five-week wait for results. Callard had her last radiotherapy session in July.
