Beverley Callard Awaits Biopsy Results Amid Breast Cancer Battle

Beverley Callard, 69, has shared a new health update amid her ongoing battle with breast cancer, stating she is feeling "brain dead" as she awaits the results of a biopsy.

The Coronation Street star, who was diagnosed earlier this year, has been keeping her followers informed about her treatment and hospital appointments. In a recent video update, Callard explained that while her esophagus is clear, her upper stomach is severely inflamed.

"They've taken several biopsies to find out what that is and they said often it can take 12-13 weeks, but then they said to me they'll get the results to my surgeon and oncologist in about a week, so I'll know more then," Callard said in the video, sitting with her dog. She added that the inflammation explains the persistent nausea she has been experiencing.

Callard revealed that she has also been referred to a stomach specialist, a gastroenterologist, after her surgeon noted she was overdoing things and needed to rest more. "It's really hard because I just can't because if I lay down because I'm tired, my mind tortures... I torture myself," she explained. Despite the challenges, she stated she is not experiencing despair or depression and is grateful to be surrounded by other women facing similar health issues.

Callard joined the cast of Ireland's RTÉ soap opera Fair City in February as Lily. She received her breast cancer diagnosis on the same day she was due to start filming, prompting her return to the UK for surgery and treatment.

Having completed her radiotherapy, Callard decided to return to work to keep her mind occupied. "If you are, you just sit and feel sorry for yourself. Believe me, I've done that as well, as we all do. But I need my mind to be occupied," she said. "If I've got lines to learn, it really helps. And believe me, I've had loads to learn, so it's been good."

Callard, widely known for her role as Liz McDonald in Coronation Street, publicly disclosed her diagnosis earlier this year on Ireland's The Late Late Show. At the time, she mentioned that her lymph nodes were being removed as a precautionary measure to prevent the cancer from spreading.
