Bethenny Frankel on Co-Parenting With Ex Jason Hoppy: 'Challenging Year'
The reality star described her co-parenting relationship with ex-husband Jason Hoppy as "strained" and "challenging" following their lengthy divorce.
Bethenny Frankel revealed that her co-parenting relationship with ex-husband Jason Hoppy is currently strained, describing the past year as "challenging."
"We do both exist on this earth, so that’s positive," Frankel stated in a recent interview on the "Friends Keep Secrets" podcast when asked about their dynamic. She candidly added, "It’s been a strained year. It’s been a challenging year."
Frankel and Hoppy, who share daughter Bryn, split in 2012. Their divorce was finalized in 2021, a decade after their separation, following what Frankel described as a "traumatic" and "horrible" legal process.
"There were a lot of circumstances that have been too much," the former "Real Housewives of New York City" star divulged, referencing their "10 years [in legal proceedings] on a two-year marriage."
Frankel was ultimately granted primary residential custody of their now 16-year-old daughter. She previously described the divorce as a "torture" and an experience she "thought I would never survive."
Despite the difficulties, Frankel spoke fondly of her relationship with Bryn, noting that they are "in between" being mother and daughter and friends. "When we vibe and we are watching something and we’re laughing, we connect," she said, though she also acknowledged they can be "on different paths."
A representative for Hoppy did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Frankel was previously married to Peter Sussman from 1996 to 1997.
