Bengals Star Criticized for Revealing Opponent's Tendency to Media

Cincinnati Bengals safety Jordan Battle has drawn criticism from fans for disclosing a specific tendency of Miami Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis to reporters. Battle revealed that Willis exhibits a slight tap of the ball before each throw, a tell the Bengals plan to exploit.

"He has a little slight little tap before every throw, though, so I feel like we could use that as a key to break on the ball," Battle told reporters Friday. "He likes to tap the ball before he throws it, or he takes his hand off, and that gives the read to break. He's obviously dangerous with his feet. We know we've got to be alert for that."

The comments quickly circulated online, leading to widespread fan frustration. "When you know you've figured out someone's tell... first thing you wanna do is let them know exactly what it is," one fan commented. Another added, "Yeah just go ahead and say that out loud before the game champ."

Battle's remarks come as the Bengals prepare to face the Dolphins, who are seeking their first win of the season. The Bengals' defense has shown improvement this season, ranking 13th in the NFL in scoring defense and demonstrating an ability to prevent deep passes. Last week, the unit performed well against the Jacksonville Jaguars, despite defensive backfield adjustments.

The Bengals' offensive lineup may be impacted by injuries. Wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are both dealing with injuries. Chase suffered a concussion during the loss to the Jaguars, while Higgins sustained a groin injury. Both players were listed as questionable for Sunday's game. If both are inactive, it would mark the first time since Chase was drafted in 2021 that Joe Burrow would play without at least one of his top receivers available.
