Ben Affleck's Blunt Response to Son's Lamborghini Request Echoes Past Mishap

Ben Affleck recently shared a candid moment regarding his son Samuel's interest in acquiring a Lamborghini, a request he promptly denied. This comes four years after a notable incident where a then-10-year-old Samuel accidentally backed a yellow Lamborghini Urus into a white BMW at a luxury car rental dealership.

During an appearance on Kerry Washington's podcast, "Street You Grew Up On," Affleck, 54, discussed how his youngest son, Samuel, 14, mirrors his own affinity for luxury items. "My son's like, ‘Dad, you should get a Lambo,’" Affleck recounted with a laugh. "'What? A Lambo? Are you f---ing crazy? Am I an a--hole in a yellow Lamborghini driving around like at the club?' He's like, ‘Yeah.’" Affleck emphatically responded, "No. No!"

The 2022 incident occurred when Affleck allowed Samuel to sit in the driver's seat of the rental Lamborghini Urus, which was valued at $250,000 and rented for $1,475 per day. Samuel, then 10, inadvertently put the vehicle in reverse, leading to a minor collision with a BMW. Representatives for Affleck and the dealership, 777 Exotics, stated at the time that neither vehicle sustained damage, and an employee noted that there were "no hard feelings" following the event.

This isn't the first time Affleck has addressed his son's interest in high-priced items. In March 2025, a video surfaced of Samuel admiring a $6,000 pair of Dior x Nike Air Jordan 1 sneakers. Affleck's reaction, "That's a lot of lawns you gotta mow there," quickly went viral. Later, he joked about the incident, telling Access Hollywood, "It's always some grift why I need to be… I'm like, 'Man, you do not need thousand-dollar shoes!' He's like, 'We have the money.' I'm like, 'I have the money, you're broke!'"

Affleck, who shares Samuel, Violet (20), and Fin (17) with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, has spoken about teaching his children the value of hard work and not expecting handouts. He explained on "Today with Jenna & Friends" that while parents want to provide for their children, it's a disservice not to teach them that desired items require effort. He also noted during an appearance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" that his children don't seem impressed by his Hollywood career, with the most "cool" thing he's done in their eyes being the creation of a viral meme.

Affleck's Dunkin' Donuts meme, which emerged in December 2020 from photos of him carrying multiple iced coffees, became a popular internet sensation. He later entered an official partnership with the coffee chain in 2023, starring in and directing their first Super Bowl commercial. Reflecting on the meme's popularity, Affleck told Meyers, "They're like, ‘You're relevant.’" He quipped, "I'm like, ‘I'm relevant for being this beleaguered, depressed man.’" When Meyers asked if the goal was to become a meme, Affleck replied, "Yeah, that's the high mark."
