Ben Affleck Clarifies "Gone Girl" Prosthetic Rumors

Ben Affleck has put to rest speculation surrounding his full-frontal shower scene in the 2014 film "Gone Girl," confirming that he did not use a prosthetic. Affleck made the clarification in a recent interview with Variety.

"I wore no prosthesis," Affleck told Variety. "I’ve only worn one in one film, ‘Hollywoodland.’ It was a nose."

The psychological thriller "Gone Girl," directed by David Fincher and based on Gillian Flynn's 2012 novel, starred Affleck as Nick Dunne, a writing teacher suspected of murdering his wife, Amy, played by Rosamund Pike. The film featured a notable shower scene where Affleck's character appears nude.

Affleck previously joked about the scene during a 2014 Hollywood Film Awards acceptance speech, recounting director David Fincher's assurances that the camera would not reveal too much. "David assured me... ‘Listen, if we tilt down, we’ll never go far enough to see anything,’" Affleck said at the time. He also quipped about the need for a cool set, stating, "If you’re gonna have one chance for America to see your junk, you want it to be cold."

His then-wife, Jennifer Garner, also humorously addressed the scene on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," remarking, "What I have to say is, ‘You’re welcome.’"

Earlier this month, Affleck reflected on his experience working with Fincher, telling Letterboxd that collaborating with the director was a significant privilege. "He’s one of the absolute greatest filmmakers ever to live," Affleck said. "I was willing to do anything for [Fincher], like, be naked."
