Ben Affleck Addresses 'Gone Girl' Shower Scene Rumors

Ben Affleck has put an end to years of speculation surrounding a nude shower scene in the 2014 film "Gone Girl." The actor confirmed that he appeared fully nude in the scene and did not utilize any prosthetics.

In the psychological thriller directed by David Fincher and based on Gillian Flynn's novel, Affleck portrayed Nick Dunne, a man who becomes the prime suspect following the disappearance of his wife, Amy, played by Rosamund Pike.

Affleck told Variety that he wore no prosthetics for the scene, adding that the only time he used one was for a nose in the film "Hollywoodland." He recalled director David Fincher assuring him during filming that the camera's angle would prevent anything explicit from being shown. Affleck also humorously remarked on the cold temperature of the set during the scene, joking about the desire for good lighting if his "junk" were to be shown.

Reflecting on his experience working with Fincher, Affleck expressed his willingness to do anything for the director, whom he considers one of the greatest filmmakers. He shared during an acceptance speech for the film at the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards that Fincher had assured him the scene would be handled tastefully.

During a 2014 appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," then-wife Jennifer Garner also referenced the scene, playfully telling the host, "You're welcome," implying she contributed to the production in some way.
