Reality television personality Nathan Gallagher, known for his appearance on 'Below Deck Mediterranean,' has become an international fugitive, with his mugshot circulating online following his conviction in absentia on assault charges in Australia and an outstanding arrest warrant in Ireland. The circumstances surrounding his departure from Australia, despite facing serious allegations, have prompted scrutiny of the nation's bail and judicial processes. Gallagher, 28, was convicted on charges including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, and intentionally choking a person without consent. These convictions stem from an incident on December 27, 2025, where he allegedly attacked his former girlfriend, Gael Cameron, the mother of his infant son, in their Sydney apartment. Cameron, a co-star on the reality show, reported that Gallagher choked her while their six-month-old child was present.

Gallagher was granted bail on December 28, 2025, with conditions that prohibited him from approaching the alleged victim or prosecution witnesses, drinking alcohol, taking drugs, and required him to adhere to an apprehended violence order and notify police of any address change. Crucially, his bail undertaking did not require him to surrender his passport or prevent him from leaving the country. A legal source suggested that given Gallagher's ties to another country, prosecutors might have been expected to request stricter conditions. When questioned, the NSW Police Force referred inquiries to the courts, which provided details of Gallagher's bail undertaking.

Further complicating the situation, Gallagher also faces an active arrest warrant in Ireland. He allegedly assaulted a man in Dungloe in August 2022 and failed to appear in court for a criminal charge related to the incident in April 2025. Dungloe District Court subsequently issued an arrest warrant for this matter.

Gallagher was scheduled to appear for a full court hearing in Burwood, Sydney, on Monday, September 1, 2026, where Ms. Cameron was present to testify. However, Gallagher did not appear. Judge Janine Lacy was informed by Australian immigration data that Gallagher had already left the country. As a result, Judge Lacy made an arrest order under Section 196 of the NSW Criminal Procedure Act, allowing police to apprehend him. The judge also convicted Gallagher in his absence on the three assault-related offenses. An apprehended violence order protecting Ms. Cameron was extended for two years.

Currently described as 'offshore,' Gallagher would face immediate custody if he returned to New South Wales, along with potential further charges for breaching his bail. He has not yet been subject to an Interpol Red Notice, but arrest warrants are now active in both Australia and Ireland. If he were to return to Australia, he would likely be refused bail while awaiting sentencing, facing a maximum of five years imprisonment for each of the choking and assault charges.

The Department of Home Affairs declined to comment on individual cases but stated that all visa holders must meet legislative requirements, including character and security criteria. The department indicated that it takes appropriate action, which may include visa cancellation, when a visa holder no longer meets these criteria. Mobilized by the court's arrest order, police released Gallagher's mugshot on social media. The conviction and ongoing fugitive status represent a significant fall for the former reality TV personality, who met Cameron on 'Below Deck Mediterranean' in 2024. The couple welcomed a son in June 2025.
